15 minutes to blog...
Wow. What a challenge, having a two year old that is entering the stage of tantrums, adjusting to a new member in the family, and teething molars all at the same time. It's made things really hard in the past few days.
Olivia is so precious and it feels like I just can't seem to get the time I long for to cuddle her and learn all of her needs like I did with Mikail. I am also learning what it's like to have a baby that is not on a strong narcotic for the first months of life. A lot more fussy times and crying to deal with. Although I think that her brother's loud outbursts and tantrums are keeping her from getting the sleep she needs.
Such a balance, trying to make everyone feel loved and appreciated and meet their basic needs. Today I am not balancing it all too well. Lots of tears and feelings of sheer overwhelming emotions ~ I am sure part of it is my hormones trying to get back to normal. It takes a while.
Jason just sent me down to the computer to blog for a few minutes. I wanted to write Olivia's birth story, but I just don't have the energy, so I am spewing out the "yuckinesses" of today. Someone reminded me today that this too shall pass. I am sure that if I get more than 3 hours of sleep tonight, I will feel like a new woman tomorrow. A Mama with more patience and a woman with more belief in herself as a parent and wife.
We all have these days. Today was my turn.
Isn't our Olivia just precious in these photos? So at peace.

Sunshine, laughter and happiness
A baby girl...
one of the most beautiful miracles in life,
one of the greatest joys we can ever know,
and one of the reasons why
there is a little extra sunshine, laughter and happiness
in my world today.

Adjusting to having 'YaYa' as a little sister
I think the adjustment of having a sibling is the hardest on the big brother in this house.
It's day 11 and he's getting there. So tough for a little guy.
Day one: love from a distance. Curious, but cautious.
Day two: love and curiosity from a closer proximity.
Hugs and exploration of teeny tiny hands and ears, feet and nose.
And now he is starting to dote on her and even calls her by her name ~ or at least his two year old version of Olivia: YaYa

Olivia's Crib Quilt
My Mom has been making each grandchild a crib quilt when they are born. She is so gifted and Olivia is so blessed to have this quilt made by her Oma.

Olivia's Nusery
Finally I can post photos of Olivia's nursery. This time around we decided to find out if the baby was a boy or girl--we just didn't announce it from the mountain tops.
We kind of stayed within the same idea as Mikail's nursery, but made it girly.
The dresser that we used as a change table for Mikail is now in his room so we had to get a change table. This is what we found on kijij. Not my style at all, but for $30 I decided that a bit of paint, colour, and new hardware, I would make it my style. Here is the 'after photo':
An idea I found on Pinterest for a mobile that I thought was super cute and I had all the materials so that was a bonus. That was before we went to Mexico and found a butterfly mobile to go with the butterfly theme in the room.
When Mikail was a baby I did a monthly calendar that went into a scrapbook for each month of his first year. We are going to attempt to do this for Olivia as well. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with it. The Lady and the Tramp book was my Mom's when she was little. So beautiful.
I have a new love for buntings and made a mini one that matches Olivia's crib quilt
The butterfly mobile we found in a glass shop in Los Cabos. So pretty. The circular wall art matches Olivia's crib quilt.
More bunting love. I found these pink sheer curtains on clearance for $5 and then made a bunting to dress them up a little.
So there you have it: Olivia's nursery.
